Edmund Burns was the fifth child of John Burns and Mary Callaghan. He was baptized on July 30, 1865 at St Patrick’s Chapel in Adelaide by Fr. Patrick Russell. His sponsors were Richard Dwyer & Catherine Whittaker.
Little documentary evidence exists to support his existence. The only sources for his name and date are his baptismal record and the 1891 NSW Census that has an Ed Burns, with wife and two daughters, living next door to Michael Burns in Broken Hill.
