New Zealand

In 1865, a young adventurer named Patrick Callaghan came to O'Kain's Bay, New Zealand, where he found Emma Ware and made a life with her. He became a successful cattle rancher and a strong supported of the Catholic Church in Akaroa. Though Emma was an Anglican, their only daughter Emily Agnes was raised in the Catholic faith, including going to a Catholic girls' finishing school. She would convert to Anglicanism when she married the scion of the wealthy Birding family.
Like his brothers William in Minnesota and Michael in California, Patrick went from a victim of eviction and famine to a successful farmer and businessman. But the Callaghan name in the New Zealand branch of the family died with Emily, despite leaving many descendants of the Ghost Family to rediscover their family past over one hundred years later.
